Call Supe. Valdez to vote No on Stonegarden

Pima County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 on Tuesday to reject money offered to it by the federal Department of Homeland Security for the purpose of furthering collaboration between our local Sheriff’s Department and Border Patrol.  This funding, known as “Operation Stonegarden” grants, allows for joint operations between our local Sheriff and Border Patrol.  This grant helps the Sheriff’s department to assist the BP by pairing department officers with BP staff to allow BP to detain vehicles for lengthy amounts of time.

Supervisor Ramon Valadez of District 2 has decided to change his vote to a “yes” and he needs to hear from his constituents!  He is the swing vote – he can single-handedly bring back Operation Stonegarden funding to Pima County (the other four Supervisors appear to be firm in their original positions).

Parts of Sahuarita are in Valdez’s District 2.  Consult the map at the link below and if you are Dist. 2, please contact him:  Call 520-724-8126 during regular business hours and ask for Ramon Valadez’s office or email:
