From Maureen Brooks’ 2/17 talk on the ERA and what you can do to move the legislation forward.
Contact Sen. Karen Fann, President of the Arizona Senate from Prescott, and ask her to submit the ERA proposal to a friendly committee. Last year it was sent to a committee whose chair refused to act. She has been approached and needs some help to make the right decision.

•In no case should it be assigned to the Judiciary Committee, where Sen. Eddie Farnsworth (R-District 12 and "Charter School Millionaire") -- Sen. Fann's second in command -- has vowed to kill it.
•First Choice: Commerce Committee. Chaired by Sen. Ugenti-Rita. Vice Chair is Sen. Tyler Pace (R-District 25), a co-signer of the bill with Sen. Urgenti-Rita. Traditionally, bills are assigned when possible to the committee of the sponsor. So, this action has precedent and should provide the utmost support for getting the SCR 1006 to full vote. Supporters also conclude that ERA's impacts on the economy and work force make it a natural choice to place under Commerce.
•Second Choice: Health and Human Services. Sen. Kate Brophy-McGee (R-District 28) chairs this committee and is an ERA supporter. SCR 1006 signer Sen. Heather Carter (R-District 15) is vice chair. Sen. Tyler Pace, also a signer, is on the committee. Sen. Victoria Steele (D-District 9) is a member of this committee, as is ERA-supporter Sen. Rebecca Rios (D-District 27).
