!ACTNOW!

from the

a4a Climate Change Action Group

Tucson People’s March for Climate, Jobs and Justice
Saturday, April 29, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Join the People’s Climate March April 29th to stand up for our communities. There will be marches in Washington, D.C. and around the world. Be part of the sister march in Tucson.
The march will be a loop around Downtown Tucson beginning and ending at El Presidio Park, 160 W Alameda St., Tucson.

All the advances that have been made in climate science, in jobs and in justice are in peril.  We are under siege, and those in power in Washington are advancing a dark and dangerous vision of America that we know is untrue. To change everything, we need everyone.

Car Pool from Denny’s Sahuarita at 9:00 a.m.
•    Please leave cars in the lot across from Denny’s.
•    Each car group will determine when they will return home.

•    All welcome at a sign making party being held Thursday, April 27. 12-2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Church, Sahuarita.

ACT NOW !

a4a Immigration Action Group

Call Members of Congress: McSally, Flake and McCain

Ask them to : WITHHOLD FUNDING for the BORDER WALL, FOR NEW DETENTION FACILITIES, and FOR MORE ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL.

On its own, the Executive Branch can carry out much of what’s covered in Trump’s January 25th executive orders such as constructing a wall, increasing the number of BP agents, and tripling the number of ICE officers carrying out deportations.  But, Trump needs more money to carry out the orders in full.  CONGRESS needs to act!

McSally: 520-881-3588
Flake:     520-575-8633
McCain: 520-670-6334

Facts to Support Withholding Funds for Phone Calls and Letters to the Editor

  • Trump’s wall cost from $27-$40 billion.

  • Tunnels, drones, catapults, etc. can make walls ineffective.
“As Donald Trump Calls for Wall on Mexican Border, Smugglers Dig Tunnels,” Ron Nixon, New York Times, 9/2/16.

  • In the past 10 years, the number of Border Patrol agents has grown from 12,000 to 20,000, and the Customs and Border Patrol budget has doubled to $13.6 billion a year.

  • Less costly and more humane controls on migrants who await their hearings should be expanded rather than building new detention facilities. Today’s 34,000 detention beds cost U.S. taxpayers $5.5 million a day.
